Kai Ea "Breath of the Sea" Panoramic Ocean Views !

Welcome to a place where the vastness of sea and sky seemingly meet in endless horizon. It is ideal for couples and honeymooners wanting total privacy. Get away from it all at Kai Ea. Kai meaning sea joined with Ea (a ah) meaning breath. This awesome home is upstaged only by it's extraordinary ocean views.....and the 'breath' of the sea below. Situated on five gated acres for total privacy. A tasteful Asian theme defines this contemporary cliff side home on five private and gated acres. The upscale home celebrates, and was designed to capture, the breathtaking views of the wide open Pacific Ocean, miles of coastline and white water all the way to Maui, magnificent sunsets and moon rises filling the sky and reflected on the glistening sea, backdrop of clouds hanging on the mountain with stars and distant houses lit up at night. The ruins of an ancient Hawaiian village is seen on the coastal plain below. The home has multiple levels, with a handful of steps, to capture the view in every direction. There are many sunny or shady lanais to decompress and meditate and take in this vista. There are no other rentals or occupants on the property for your complete privacy. A recent local magazine (At Home) featured this amazing home and praised: 'A view so high, so spectacular, so sweeping, making it an apt lair for native owls and hawks'. The panoramic view, yet closeness to the sea and nature's displays, make Kai Ea the perfect place to forget the hassles of everyday life. The incredible vistas have a calming and grounding effect. Situated for the perfect climate at 800' with warm sunny breezy days and comfortable nights. The home is perched above unique Pebble Beach (black polished pebbles) and in winter it is a birthing and mating cove for migrating whales. It is common for the call of whales and flapping flukes to break the silence and treat the eye. Crashing waves up and down the coast reverberate when the surf is high. Be sure and bring your binoculars! The newer fully appointed home is large, open and spacious. It is accentuated with high ceilings, superior craftmanship and furnished with many Asian antiques and artwork. Lending to the ambiance are oversized Italian tile and Brazilian cherry wood floors, roomy well equipped gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. There are many ceiling fans, huge soaking tub and a private tiled and enclosed outdoor shower for after the beach. A totally separate bedroom available also (please ask about extra guests) with choice of plush top queen bed or slightly more firm Serta Spinal Logic queen bed. Master has it's own private sitting area and walls of glass. With all this, you are in the peaceful country yet close to a variety of great beaches for excellent snorkeling and kayaking and just the right distance from nightlife in Kailua-Kona. A variety of restaurants and shopping dot the way. An excellent grocery store and small mall is about 20 minutes away with smaller convenience stores closer. South Kona is our local 'breadbasket' for fresh produce, fruit, Kona coffee and macademia nuts. There are abundant coffee plantations

An ocean view and privacy all in one

This is one of my favorite places in Hawaii; we have stayed here a couple of times. Upon arriving, the view is breathtaking. This house has everything you need without being cluttered. It is well taken care of, clean, quiet and with an exquisite view. The outdoor shower is wonderful, especially after snorkeling. It is a 20 min. drive to Honaunau Bay or "2-Step", the best snorkeling on the Island. This bay is a reserve and has the healthiest coral, fish and if you are lucky, spinner dolphins. Don't miss breakfast or lunch at the Coffee Shack in nearby Captain Cook, just up the hill from Honaunau. You will need a car as this place is a bit remote. That's the beauty of the place though. There are no roads or buildings between you and the sea 800 ft below. Sit and watch whales in winter. This house is very private, serene and restful. The photos barely do it justice. Fabulous sunsets.

    Amazing in every way

We stayed here for two weeks in September and couldn't have been happier. The house is spotless; the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook. We found a lovely beach close by for snorkeling. The view is amazing and the location is very private without being too far from restaurants, shopping, hiking and seeing the sights. We hope to get back one day.

    It's all about the view!

Seriously, the best VRBO property we have stayed in while visiting Hawaii and to find such a gem on the Big Island made the trip even more spectacular. The pictures do not do the property justice - it's even better in person. The location is perfect for day trips to the north, east and south side of the island. No matter where you stay, you'll need a car to explore the island fully and the rental provided us a luxurious base for our adventures. Make sure to snorkel at "2 Steps" (20 minutes from home) and if you are lucky as we were, experience swimming with spinner dolphins. The outdoor shower was nice to rinse off our gear. We stayed 6 nights in November and were not in need of a single item during our stay. We appreciated the personalized card and their attention to detail. The property manager provided information on the area and where to get groceries before our arrival. The whole transaction was seamless and the customer service was top notch. The management was kind enough to call us about a forgotten iPad, but unfortunately we were already at the airport catching our plane. They sent it via FedEx to our home on the mainland.

The view will take your breath away!

And that's just the beginning. The house is gorgeous. Very tastefully furnished. The owners have supplied you with just about everything you might need during your stay, including all the beach gear (chairs, snorkeling equipment, coolers, big towels, etc.) every possible kitchen utensil and appliance (including a wonderful washer and dryer and the detergent to go with it!), seasonings, books about the Big Island, extra linens and towels, etc. etc. It was so well equipped it was almost like being at home, including very comfortable beds. The location is great. About halfway between just about everywhere. Very quiet - except for the bleating of the wild goats and the distant crash of the waves. Very very very private. If you like crowds of people, this is NOT the place for you. It's worth it to try to make it home in time to watch the incredible sunsets lounging on the comfy deck chairs. And once the sun goes down, being away from town means no light pollution and GREAT star gazing. The best part about Kai Ea is that we no longer need to spend hours on VRBO searching for a place to stay on the Big Island. This is it!

This property is amazing. Great view, clean, stocked kitchen, outdoor supplies, outdoor furniture and an awesome outdoor shower. We used this house as a home base for our many big island adventures. For us it was close enough to Captain Cook for any quick needs but far enough for some peace and quiet. It is about 10 degrees cooler than Kona-Kailua making a very nice temperature. Would stay again, recommended to friends and family. Harry was a great host by providing detailed directions.
