A Secluded Waterfront Getaway Featuring Some of Alaska's Most Panoramic Views.

Pat's Place is a secluded, waterfront home featuring some of Alaska's most extraordinary views The home comes with car, conditions apply. The home is located about 10 miles from shopping, restaurants, and the airport, and about 20 miles from down town Juneau. The Master Bedroom has a King Platform bed, a private bathroom, and private balcony over looking the cove and woods. Their are two additional bedrooms upstairs that share a common bath. The first bedroom has one queen bed and balcony with panoramic views that overlooks the ocean and distant mountains. The second bedroom has two single twin beds plus a sleeping loft with a full size air mattress. In addition their is also a full Kitchen, Dinning area, Living and Family room, plus a half bath with washer & dryer. The home also comes with a gas BBQ, fire pit, boat/skiff, Kayak, and 7 seat SUV. (2002 Ford Explorer), for stays of 6 or more nights. You will receive the car full of gas and it is expected to be returned full. A 25 cent per mile usage fee will be charged at the end your stay. In the winter it may be necessary to park on the street, and walk down the steps to the house (96 covered steps) In the summer the driveway is open, about 60 steps down to the house. If your elderly or in poor health going up the steps could be a challenge. The driveway is somewhat by steep and should only be handled slowly and in reverse since it's very tight to try and turn around at the bottom of the driveway. Activities while in Juneau, include, wildlife viewing, hunting, fishing, whale watching, hiking, kayaking, Glacier & Historical tours, Flight seeing (Plane or Helicopter), & boating, A great home for family reunions, weddings, girl/guy getaways, hunting/fishing trips, honeymoon, anniversary, graduation, holiday/birthday celebration, and extended stay housing.

How to Reach :

Routes. Whether Juneau is your home base or just another stop along the route, getting to Juneau by ferry is easy. Both the Southeast Alaska route and the Cross-Gulf route serve the Juneau ferry terminal (JNU) at Mile 13.5 Glacier Highway in Auke Bay.

Local Area Info :

Car: Necessary Without a doubt the biggest tourist attraction in Juneau is the Mendenhall Glacier. An easy drive, it is centrally located between the house and downtown, Most tours are self guided and can last anywhere from two hours to two days. Their is a Park Service facility there and can answer most questions you have about the Glacier and the surrounding area. Not seeing the Glacier while in Juneau is like not seeing the Eiffel Tower when in Paris. Juneau and all of SE Alaska is know for it's world class fishing. Some of the best salmon and halibut fishing is just a few feet off our shores. Charter fishing boats are just a few miles away in Auke Bay, (6 miles) and also downtown. You can cook your catch on your outdoor grill and if your very successful, ship home the rest. Of course an Alaska fishing license is required. Whale watching is also very popular, but no need to charter a boat since the whales are constantly breaching within view of the back deck. Another popular attraction are helicopter tours of the Glacier, where they fly you up to the top of a Glacier and you land and walk around. Their are 4 local helicopter operators and one is bound to meet any specialized needs. Bring your camera on this trip, cause it's sure to be breathtaking. If you make a day trip to the city plan on a trip up the Mt Roberts Tram. Not only will the view at the top be breathtaking but their are occasional shows and a fabulous restaurant to eat in while enjoying the panoramic views. Another popular downtown tour is the old mine. Juneau got it's start as a gold mining town and it's what put Juneau on the map. Highly recommend at least a day trip to the city for shopping, restaurants, and tours

The Unique Benefits at this House: I'd have to say the two most unique features of this waterfront house are are the beautiful panoramic views and the total isolation. Whether it's fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking, or just plain relaxing this location has it all. Even when the weather is bad you will feel relaxed and on vacation in this home

    Awesome Easter Weekend!

My extended family of 7 stayed in this beautiful, relaxing and peaceful Alaskan getaway. The house had everything a family or couple could need for a restful stay. Plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their personal space and amazing family room and deck with a stunning view of the ocean. My young sons enjoyed watching the eagles and seals over the water while exploring the ocean's waterfront and their Grandparents enjoyed watching them from the deck while enjoying a glass of wine. Close to town to partake in the beauty of the Glacier and other Juneau attractions but private enough to be restful and relaxing. Memories made here will be cherished!

Exceptional home in a perfect location.

Our group included 3 couples and a toddler, in Juneau for a family wedding. This rental was incredible. I can't believe anyone who stays here will ever want to leave. 360 degree views of woods, water, mountains. Every direction was a postcard view. The decks are perfect for gatherings or privacy, depending on which one you choose to sit on. We couldn't have seen more whales on a whale-watching trip!!! You could never leave the house and feel like you experienced Alaska. The house had decent cell reception. Kitchen appliances are all in good working condition. There were enough dishes and silverware for very large groups. Beds and sofas were comfortable. Having a washer, dryer, kayak and car at our disposal was so helpful and economical. Patrick was exceptionally accommodating. It was so pleasant to have a bedroom for each couple, instead of fold-out sofa beds. ... and yet we had a large communal space. The space is exceptionally versatile. There are a number of sitting areas to choose from, and the living room pocket doors allow you to create multiple spaces. The property is close to diverse recreation options and far away from the bustle of the cruise ships.

My wife and I lived in Juneau in 1958-59. We hadn't been back for 56 years. We were joined by our 3 kids and 2 of their spouses, ages 49 to 56. They wanted to see and share again our Alaska, stories and adventures that we had experienced back in the day We couldn't have chosen a better spot for our return. We just moved in and lived without wanting to change a thing. PERFECT! The owners decorating taste's are the same as ours. Everything that was said on the previous 2 reviews we totally agree with. Plus we got to use his boat and he had fishing gear. If you are considering a VRBO this place has more to offer than any rental we've ever had. The owner works with you to make it a memorable experience in a very positive way.

    Outstanding home in unbeatable location.

Our week in Juneau couldn't have been better! We are a family of 6 (my husband and I early 50's, "kids" ages between 19-24). Patrick's house was absolutely perfect. Our week was split between active outings to sightsee (hiking, whale watching & glacier viewing) and relaxing in the evening on the deck. This location is perfect - close enough to easily get to town and tourist activities but definitely far enough from the cruise ship activity. We used the kitchen daily and found all the pots, pans, dishes etc. we needed for breakfast and dinners. Beds were comfy - house very clean. Patrick was EXTREMELY helpful - went abvoe and beyond to assist us by helping us to/from the airport and booking a activity that gave discounts to locals. House sits right on water, you can sit inside and gaze out the windows or linger on the various decks to relax and view to the occasional whale, passing ships, and more eagles and fish jumping that imaginable. We are experienced VRBOer's and cannot imagine anyone being dissapointed in this rental. Considerations - decent cell receptive, no WiFi. As Patrick shared, there are lots of steps to get down to house (no problem unless someone is physically challenged). Also, you do need access to a car.

A Great Family Retreat with a Real Taste of Juneau

Our family loved our week at this delightful home and the owner was very comfortably engaged in assuring this was the case. The home has all of the amenities you might desire and its location insures a true Alaska-submergence. We are already planning a return....the ultimate complement

This property is lovely with magnificent views from multiple rooms of the house. It was very clean and spacious. It was furnished quite nicely and comfortable. It was also very private and quiet. In addition, we had access to a vehicle. Thanks to the owner for sharing his beautiful home with us.

    Above and Beyond Our Expectations!

The house had everything we needed and more! Beautiful views and plenty of space for our large group. We loved using the kayak and being able to fish from the shore. Having a kitchen and grill to cook with was really nice! The location of the house is perfect - close enough to downtown for shopping and sightseeing - but far enough away that you get out of the "tourist" area and can truly experience Juneau. Pat was very accommodating and having use of his vehicle really saved us some money from renting another car. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about our trip!!

    An amazing vacation retreat!

This is a beautiful location for an Alaska vacation. We went with our 3 kids and had an amazing time! The house is incredibly comfortable and the layout is perfect for a family getaway. It is right on the water so we saw amazing sunsets (even in January) and seals swimming by. Pat is an amazingly gracious host who picked us up at the airport and loaned us his car for the 3 days we were there. I can't say enough good things about Pat and his lovely home!

A beautiful, quiet, waterfront property with a kind and thoughtful host.

Our family loved every minute of our relaxing stay in Pat's lovely house. The location is truly stunning and the sunsets were amazing. With a fire pit by the water, wonderful lounge area, great beds, views from every window, whales passing by and a warm log fire inside, we had a wonderful time! Just a note that it is 100 steps down to the property, if that is a challenge for guests - but for us that meant no road noise and life on the waterfront. My 9 year old cried leaving as she wanted to live in the house 'forever.' Thank you Pat for including the car and for your kindness.

Thank you Pat for sharing your home. The house is very comfortable, the views are amazing, and your hospitality was very much appreciated. And having the use of your suv was so helpful with our large group. Thanks again for everything. Aloha. Bill and Gail

    A Piece of Heaven...

I rarely take time to write reviews, however, our trip to Juneau in June was just too amazing to not share our thoughts. First, Juneau is a piece of heaven. Our entire family fell in love with that beautiful place. Second, Pat's home helped to make our trip so amazing. We rent VRBO houses all the time and this was the first time we were incredibly sad to leave a home and location. The location is incredible. The view was impressive both day and night. We saw seals up close and personal when we used the kayak that is provided and when we ventured around the bend, out in the channel, we saw several whales jumping in the distance. We even had a fairly close encounter with a sea lion. That was a little intimidating, but all of it was amazing. Third, the home is very charming and well designed. We felt cozy, yet had adequate space for 6 adults. The kitchen has pots, pans, mixing bowls and plenty of plates and utensils. Towels and wash clothes are in abundance. The bottom line is, the home had everything we needed and then some. The landscaping surrounding the home is beautiful, especially the waterfall. The decks are beautiful and have plenty of chairs to enjoy the views. Pat was very nice and accommodating and did all he could to make things convenient. We are planning our next visit as soon as possible! One final tidbit...About four miles up the road is St.Teresa's shrine. It is an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place. I wish we would have found it sooner, as I would have gone there every day just to enjoy the beauty and peace it offered. The night before we left, we went there at early sunset and had a whale gracefully made his presence known right in front us. It was an experience we will never forget. Thank you, Pat for offering your home on VRBO for us to use. It was our best trip yet!! Bob, Sue & Family

    Beautiful, secluded hideaway

This is our first time with a VRBO and it did not disappoint. The scheduling on the HomeAway App went like clockwork. The home we chose, Pat's Place, is a dream home. Full kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, 2 living areas with spectacular views, washer/dryer, multiple decks, firepit and the use of a car. The home is secluded and away from the cruise ships, but short trip to activities and shopping. Of course there are the 100 steps down to the house but we usually left for activities and came back late afternoon. So, the steps weren't an issue for us, especially since there is a beautiful little waterfall beside the stairs. We used the firepit and decks every evening to wind down from the day. I'm already planning another stay at this amazing place! The Walters family

    Spacious with spectacular views!

This house was very comfortable for the 5 of us and the views were amazing! You must be prepared for the many, many steps going down to the house as the car only goes part way down the steep hill. We were able to borrow the car which was extremely nice but the car is a little rough. There is no Internet, which we missed but the cell service was quite good. Everything in the house is provided, paper products, full kitchen, laundry facility, sheets, towels, etc, but pots and pans had no lids and some were warped with the Tephlon scratched off. The boat was not usable but the kayak was fun for the guys. The fishing poles were not in the best of shape but you can fish right from the back yard. It was a very quiet place and about a 25 minute drive into town. The Safeway grocery store was only about 12 minutes away. A few things were in need of repair but on the whole it was very enjoyable.

Our family stayed at Pat's for a week in August. The house is wonderful with a picturesque view. We fished, kayaked, hiked and relaxed. My family said this was the best trip of their lives. Pat is wonderful and the house is unbelievable. We saw whales and dolphins and had our own resident eagle. We caught rock fish, cod, salmon, snapper and halibut. My niece caught an 80 pound halibut. Thank you Pat.

    Extraordinary, Beautiful, and Amazing!

My daughter and I stayed at Pats Place 9/12-9/20 and we were in heaven! The home is clean, spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked with all the necessities. Amazing views of the waterfall, rainforest, ocean, and mountains! Pat was out of town and spoke with my daughter and she said he was so nice and helpful. Beth, his friend and housekeeper picked us up at the airport and she was so nice and gracious. She carried my luggage down the many steps. By the way, we enjoyed the many steps because it was so beautiful going up and down. We loved them lit up at night. I would recommend this home for a fabulous Juneau vacation. In fact, my sister and her family are going to stay in Pat's home next year. My husband couldn't make the trip and he was very jealous :-) and we are going to go back so he can kayak, fish, hike, use the fire pit, and hike to the Ice Caves. We were so grateful to use Pat's SUV and we explored Juneau and did many activities and tours. We did the helicopter tour and landed on the icefield on Herbert glacier. We walked on the icefield and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We went to St. Theresa's Shrine and it was peaceful and beautiful. We walked around downtown and did the Tramway and hiked up at the top. It was breathtaking! We went to the State Museum and that was wonderful. We toured the salmon hatchery and loved it. We went to the Mendenhall Glacier and walked to nugget Falls and it was a powerful experience. We went on the Whale Watch Tour and it was so nice just to go out in the boat and see the scenery. We passed Admiralty Island where a lot of bears live and had 2 Humpback whales play around the boat and one jumped out of the water and another surfaced right next to the boat. It was amazing! We drove the 48 mile Glacier Highway North and South and there are wonderful hiking trails that we tried out. We carried bear spray just in case we ran into a brown bear Yikes but thankfully we did not :-) There is a beautiful State Park north of Pat"s home where you can see Glacier Bay National Park in the distance and the Lynn Canal runs through the park and it was incredible. There was a black bear with her cub that went down to the canal and we were so amazed! We joked that we were in a National Geographic documentary. We did the rainforest tour which was fabulous and ate at the Salmon bake which was really neat. We didn't cook and ate at fabulous restaurants. Thank you Pat! We had a memorable and extraordinary vacation!
