La CasaBlanca Hotel & Gary's Tours at La CasaBlanca

La CasaBlanca Are you looking for a hotel and tours in Tena, out here in the Amazonia of eastern Ecuador? Well look no farther, we’ve created the perfect place for you to stay and high quality tours to go with it. Our tours can take you to places you'd never find alone, the hotel reflects what we wanted for ourselves and experienced in other places around the world. That in combination with a helping hand to get you up to speed on the area will smooth your transition to maximize the time you have here in this little corner of the world.

How to Reach :

The easiest way to find our place the first time is to hail a taxi and tell them “ El Hotel La CasaBlanca en Aeropuerto Dos”. It is $1.50 from the bus station during the day, $1.75 at night.

Local Area Info :

Tena is about 4 hours over the Andes Mountains east and south of Quito. We highly suggest you travel during the day as the views going over the mountains, then dropping into the Amazon basin are soooooo beautiful. You don’t want to miss them by passing through in the dark. Write us for suggestions on a great homestay in Tumbaco, a hotel near the airport for when flying into Quito, or a hotel in Quito. Also, we can help with transportation options, there's a shared Quito/Tena shuttle for $25 per person, in addition to travel by bus, or private taxi ($125 from Quito, $100 from the Quito airport, or $80 from Banos). Contact us, we'll be happy to make the arrangements for you or give advice . IF ARRIVING BY PRIVATE CAR FROM QUITO OR BANOS If coming from Quito direction, you'll go straight through the roundabout just coming into Tena, with a big statue of a Jumandy Indian. Then you'll go 1 long block and turn right onto Tamiahurco at the big Coliseo. Now go straight for 7 blocks and take a right on Los Yutzos (you’ll see a sign for La CasaBlanca on that corner). Now go 1 very short block and turn right, then another very short block and turn left, following the little arrow signs with the hotel name on it. You can't miss us on the right. (Helpful tip: the CityMaps2Go App on IPhone has our area mapped out better than Google. Also good maps of Ecuador can be hard to find, find a good one here on Amazon.) If coming from Banos direction, take a right at the first roundabout coming into town in order to avoid going through town. You'll be on the "perimetral" going around Tena, the sign says to Quito and Baeza. When you hit the stoplight, veer left. When you arrive at the roundabout with the big statue of the Jumandy Indian, take a left and follow the directions above. Call us if you have a problem finding us or just have a taxi guide you. It is only $1.25 if coming from the statue of the Jumandy (this side of the river that goes through town) or $1.50 if coming from the other side of the river (where the bus station is located). It is 25 cents more after dark. Reserve one of two spots in the garage by emailing us ahead!

    “A wonderful stay!”

We are so thankful we came across this location! It fulfilled our every need and Michelle and Gary went out of their way to provide us fantastic memories. Michelle was very responsive to all our questions and helped arrange private transports for us to and from Tena. They made us feel most welcome in their beautiful home and we appreciated all the nice amenities. The washer and dryer really came in handy after our overnight jungle trip! Gary's overnight jungle tour was extremely interesting. We really enjoyed all the new experiences and he provides a great variety of activities. We especially enjoyed feeding the monkeys, experiencing the chocolate/chicha processes, the butterfly farm and endangered zoo. The lodge we stayed in overnight was lovely and peaceful, perched high above the river. The food was great and well presented. A huge thumbs up to La CasaBlanca and their wonderful hospitality and services! Stayed May 2016, travelled with family

    “Super Organized, Friendly, Great Tour”

Michelle and Gary run La Casa Blanca in Tena. They make a good team. Michelle is very organized and can give you all sorts of recommendations about restaurants, places to go, and things to do. Gary is a native Ecuadorian and is a tour guide. He knows so much about the rainforest animals and plants. He speaks English very well and has a great sense of humor. We went on the overnight stay in the rainforest with Gary as our guide- we were searching for a good rainforest experience and he knew lots!

“"Gorgeous and super comfortable place to stay in Tena!"”

Casa Blanca feels like a home away from home. Michelle and Gary are incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating. The hotel is always very clean and everything just works like it should. This is the perfect place to recharge after a few weeks of bumping through hostels or use as a home base to explore the beauty of the Amazon forests. The fully filtered water means that you never have to worry about accidentally swallowing a mouthful; the washer and dryer, the full kitchen and Michelle and Gary's generosity mean that you will never want for anything while you are here. The quiet location and the sturdy doors means a good night's sleep every night of the week. As a Ph.D. student working in communities around Tena for three to four months at a time, I couldn't have asked for a better place to call my temporary home in Ecuador. Also, this hotel/hostel seems to attract the nicest and most adventurous people so when it's full, it's even more fun to share stories, coordinate tours (which makes them cheaper too!) and play games with travelers from around the world! Stayed September 2016, travelled on business

    “Wonderful Hostel with Wonderful Hosts”

I can't say enough how amazing this place is. Michelle and Gary are the kindest most helpful hosts, helping us with restaurant suggestions, special requests/needs that we may have, and helping me figure out travel plans to other places in Ecuador! The rooms are clean, spacious and lovely. The kitchen is great, open access with a fridge. And Laundry!
