Quiet and peaceful with breathtaking views and a constant ocean breeze

Our family very much enjoyed our visit at L’Alize . The house is beautiful with a constant ocean breeze. It is located in a very peaceful, quiet location overlooking the ocean; however, is just a short distance from the shopping, restaurants and beaches of West End and West Bay. Great snorkeling is just a short walk to the beach or you can just walk out the back door and enjoy the pool. The house is tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you need. We couldn't have asked for a better location from which to experience the beauty of Roatan for the first time.

A quiet, relaxing, and secluded beach home

This home is absolutely stunning. It feels brand new. From the open kitchen/dining/living area you can see straight to the ocean and feel the sea breeze blowing through the house. Directly outside the lower level you will find a most relaxing pool complete with lights for late night swims. I loved being able to enjoy the views and breezes of the ocean from the house as well as exploring the keyholes below. With easy access to snorkeling and swimming, breathtaking views and luxurious sleeping accommodations, this house couldn’t be more perfect for a vacation. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Roatan.

Amazing! Stayed here twice and will return again!

The first time we came to Roatan we stayed here. We enjoyed it so much we returned the following year and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. The view and accommodations exceeded our wildest expectations. The quiet and secluded location, the private beach and keyhole made for an incredibly enjoyable and relaxing environment. Snorkeling in the keyholes is like swimming in your own tropical aquarium. The variety of fish, coral and other sea life was amazing! Whether we wanted to take a scenic walk along the coast or relax with a good book and a drink, everything was perfect. The house was amazing. Everything is new and clean. Sunny, tropical, breezy, comfortable, incredibly relaxing all come to mind when thinking about our stay. Practically within walking distance to West Bay, there were plenty of opportunities for shopping and fine dining. We enjoyed ourselves completely. A stay here is highly recommended!

    Just AMAZING!!!

We had such a wonderful family and friends getaway. The home exceeded all of our expectations. It was immaculately clean upon arrival. Everything we needed was ready for us: towels, linens, laundry, internet, TV/DVD, kitchen appliances and utensils. There was plenty of space for us to be together, but also enjoy alone time without interference. The view from all three levels is indeed breathtaking. We really enjoyed the serenity of being separated from the tourist area, but also the convenience of being within walking distance of the shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. We explored the area on foot and snorkeled near the shore. The owners made every effort to make sure we were happy and all of our needs were met. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a vacation rental on Roatan.

    L'Alize

My time spent at L'Alize was relaxing and refreshing. The property was gorgeous and well maintained. There is a wide variety of activities to choose from regardless of the weather. It is the perfect spot to spend time with family or friends, there is something for all ages. I strongly recommend staying at L'Alize for your next vacation.

Tropical oasis without leaving all the comforts of home

I didn't know what to expect when I first arrived on Roatan. It's hard to judge a rental by pictures and descriptions. All of my doubts and worries went away once I actually saw the house. It is modern, private, and has a view straight out of national geographic. I was a little concerned at first that private meant it would be far from the points of interest on the island. It is actually right between West Bay and West End (the two main beach towns with bars and such). The beach in front of the house was gorgeous, the pool was nice after snorkeling, and the house had everything (internet, air-conditioning, hot water, tv and great movie selection). I highly recommend L'Alizé. You won't be let down! I know my family wasn't.

    Beautiful house and location

The house and property were beautiful, exactly as advertised. We had everything we needed and more. Kelly and Luis were very attentive and will offer as much or little assistance, as needed. A car is a definite must, as there is not much within walking distance. One could walk to West Bay if motivated to hike up an extremely steep and long driveway to the main road. Snorkeling between the keyhole beaches was nice but not always possible with rough seas. We would choose L'Alize again if we return to Roatan.

    Breathtaking says it all

My husband and I are very particular, so when it came to our honeymoon we picked this place because it had room, privacy and beauty. That is exactly what you will get. The island is beautiful, however the vacation was made because of this house and the location. The snorkeling was great right off the key hole. You can hike around, lay on the beach or hang out in the pool. You don't need to bring beach towels and I suggest water shoes for the key holes. Kelly was fabulous. She helped out whenever we needed it. Make sure you stop at the grocery store in Coxan Hole and load up for breakfast and lunches. You are not going to want to leave and there are no full service grocery stores in West Bay or West End. The water at the house is filtered which was great. If I were to come back, I would bring along a smaller soft cooler to take drinks down to the beach more easily. If you get a taxi, ask for Sonja. You will need to rent a car. Unfortunately our car insurance wouldn't cover out of the country so we couldn't rent the van they had at the property but it is easy to rent on the island. She was really sweet. The only negative that we had is the house below has a rooster that tends to crow at 4am and every hour after that. It didn't happen every night but make sure the upstairs patio doors are closed and you will hear him less. I would recommend this house over any of the resorts on the island and to anyone that would be traveling to Roatan. Thank you so much for the memorable honeymoon!

    Perfection

Words do not describe this amazing paradise. Home is perfect, location is secluded but close to everything. Hiking, fishing private beaches. There is even a small wreck in your own private keyhole. We will be back. I love the place.

    Time of refreshment and relaxation

We are grateful for the time we had staying at L’alize. Very refreshing and relaxing. L’alize. What a great and ample name for a house perched on a knob on the Caribbean coastline. The house is level with the birds of prey gliding through the mountain rift. This vertical space allows the ocean breeze unhampered access to the large covered veranda on each floor. Despite the brilliance and intensity of the tropical sun no air conditioning is needed and even the terrace pool water remains cool and refreshing because of the the breeze. Echoes of the water rustling against the reef reach the house. It’s a short distance down the hillside to a private cove. This cove is a great place to snorkel, especially in calmer waters. In addition, L’alize is positioned between West End and West Bay, which are reef-laden primo areas to snorkel. We found the house comfortable and well stocked. The support staff was kind and very helpful. I hope we have another opportunity to stay at L’alize.

    Excellent stay in paradise!

Beautiful home with accommodations that enabled us to enjoy a worry free stay on the island. Perfect for two families to feel separate but together.

    2013 Christmas Week Getaway

We rented this house on Roatan for Christmas week as a warm weather getaway. Our group of 8 included 2 families, with adult children so we needed a house with 5 bedrooms. The accomodations were exactly as described, and location was better than we expected with beautiful ocean views, secluded yet close to West Bay beaches and a short drive to West End. The kitchen was well equipped and we used it to prepare meals daily as well as a special holiday meal on Christmas Day. I would recommend bringing bug spray and water shoes if you plan to use the beach, and also flashlights for use during power outages. We lost power 3 times, but none lasted longer than a few hours. The keyhole was too rough for snorkeling the first few days, but after the wind shifted it became calm enough to explore the shipwreck and coral reef. We enjoyed using the ocean kayaks to padddle over to the rope swing, but none in our group was brave enough to try it. We were able to see all the way down to the bottom when the water was calm. Tish was friendly and helpful and patiently answered our questions about the island, restaurants and tipping practices. An excellent vacation spot!

Everything we expected and much more!

My partner and members my family rented this house for 4 days last week. Great ocean views! Comfortable beds and enough space for a group of 10. I would highly recommend this house for other large groups and families. We took advantage of the car that was available at the house and this came in very handy. Our driving from the airport made a stop at the supermarket before heading out to the house. I would highly recommend the same for groups that are staying for more than 2 days. I would also recommend taking advantage of the housekeeper's cuisine. She cook a breakfast and dinner for us that were excellent. We will definitely rent this house again if we return to Roatan.

    A South Shore Hillside Treasure

Rosann, thank you for opening your beautiful L'Alize to guests! We are a family of 7 who rented this hillside home for the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. We enjoyed the privacy and the breath-taking beauty of this property. Imagine waking up to constant ocean breezes then enjoying a cup of coffee on the 3rd story bedroom's deck while a lit cruise ship sails past the private beach...that's L'Alize every morning! Safety, amenities, and location to activities for children ages 7-22 are a consideration when we vacation as a family. We felt completely safe at L'Alize, as well as, in the areas we drove to on Roatan, although we followed the advice Tish provided upon check-in. The house was stocked with everything we needed to cook our own meals and to live comfortably for the week. We would highly recommend having Olga make her delicious lemon beignets one morning. She also makes a wonderful Honduran breakfast and dinner. Eddie was always available to assist us when we had questions about the van which was included with the house (a huge bonus!). He was also present to start the generator when the power went off...something that just happens on Roatan. L'Alize is only a short drive to the airport and centrally located to all the activities and attractions we wanted. West Bay and West End have plentiful restaurants, resorts, beach bars (we had to watch the Wisconsin Badgers bowl game), and dive shops. We found that a 40 minute drive to French Harbour was worth it for more upscale shopping. As for activities, Roatan provides world-class diving and snorkeling within 100 feet from the shore. Tish warned us to stay away from the sea urchins in L'Alize's private keyhole. We found them easy to navigate and enjoyed hours of snorkeling right in front of the house...even with our 7-year-old! Our scuba divers recommend the Bananarama Dive Shop in West Bay. They thought the night dive was incredible! Our whole family snorkeled with dolphins at Anthony's Key. We have done a dolphin experience before, but never like this! Another first was the Mayan Jungle Canopy. For $10pp, we turned a rainy Friday into a day filled with interacting with monkeys and macaws--priceless photos! We will return to L'Alize in the future! We put the Shark Dive, Zip Lining, and dinner at the Roatan Oasis (reservations needed) on our to do list. By renting L'Alize, we felt immersed into the culture of this beautiful, island paradise! Thanks!

    L'Alize should be called L'Amazing

From the minute we decided to book L'Alize until we boarded the plane to leave Roatan we were given top notch service. Our pre-trip planning was a breeze and we had tons of help from the owner and manager. Upon arrival we were met at the airport and taken to the local grocery store to stock up on supplies. From the store it was about a 20-minute ride on curvy and pot hole riddled roads to the house. The drive into L'Alize is STEEP! Thankfully the house came with a van because without one you would be hard pressed to walk out to the road. We were given a tour of the house by Tish (the manager) and introduced to Olga, Edie, and their family (our caretakers, cooks, and concierge). The house is as described, perhaps even better, and pictures can not show how truly amazing it is. From the second you walk through the door you are preoccupied with the incredible view out every window. We spent a great deal of time on the decks but there were nights we had to eat inside because the breeze could be a bit much. However, waking up in the morning in the master suite is unbelievable! The breeze rolls through the room, the sounds of the ocean are in the distance (along with a rooster), and you can lay in bed and watch the sunrise. We had a BBQ chicken and Mahi Mahi on the charcoal grill (grab charcoal at the grocery store). We had to be creative with the grill placement because of the breeze but that was easily done. We also made pasta one night and brought in pizza from Bananarama in West Bay (very good). The kitchen is very well stocked and it was easy to cook for our large group (12 total). There are stairs everywhere at L'Alize and you must conquer a fair amount of them get to the beaches. Both beaches are decent and Edie attempts to keep them clean but a fair deal of trash can wash in each night. The surf was a bit much for snorkeling for most our group but it was possible. The beach in front of the house is next to the caretaker's house but the second beach (a 10 minute walk) is quite secluded. Edie gathered up wood one night and started a beach fire for us, all we had to do was ask. You are between West Bay and West End and both are easy to reach (we spent the majority of our time between the two). South Shore Zipline is a very short ride from the house (You will pass it daily). We ended up spending $140 for gas but we were constantly on the move. The guest house was a good add on for us. The pool was perfect. You will NOT be sorry if you stay

    Wonderful Stay at L' Alize

Absolutely wonderful stay at L' Alize. We were picked up promptly by Carlos at the airport who ran us by a grocery store on the way so we could stock up on food. Tish met us and gave us the grand tour where we also met Olda, Eddie and Olena their daugter who is a very sweet girl. The breeze is quite nice blowing through the house so AC is not needed. Although we used the AC's in the bedrooms at night to sleep. The first 2 days the keyhole was way too rough to go out snorkeling but not a problem because when this side of the island is rough chances are the opposite side is calm. So the first day we snorkeled in front of Infinity Resort and then made arrangements for dives with the dive shop there. By the 4th day the winds shifted and the keyhole was very calm so Eddie unhooked the kayaks and we threw our snorkeling gear onto them and paddled out a ways to snorkel right off the keyhole. The walk back to the house for a picnic lunch and pina coladas is not too far so we spent the entire day down by the keyhole. Be sure to have Olga cook for you a few times while at L 'Alize. Her fried fish and plantains are to die for. Plenty do to on Roatan. Would definately go back to L 'Alize.

    perfect getaway

We booked our trip almost a year in advance. L'Alize looked amazing and there were many activities that appealed to us to do with our adult children; kayaking, scuba diving, canapy tour, snorkeling and dining out often. As happens in life, just prior to our trip, we were met with the sudden death of a parent, placing the other parent in a skilled care facility and packing up years of memories to sell their home. L'Alize and the beauty of Roatan were exactly what our family needed. We spent our time differently than anticipated but equally enjoyable. We enjoyed the weather, sunny and hot but breezy always. The pool was perfect for a quick cool down. We loved the walk to the keyhole and all of nature's suprises once down there. Lots of hermit crabs, snails, rock formations, clear blue water and a cooling mist as the surf crashed against the iron shore. We would knock coconuts from the trees and make wonderful island cocktails and sit by the sea. We discovered Olga's cooking on our arrival day and opted to have her cook multiple dinners..delicious! We enjoyed the beachside bars for a drink and some soccer, great snorkling right in front of the Grand Roatan which had many TVs and good food. Scuba was incredible. Nothing can beat waking to the rooster's call (others said it was a negative but we liked the start to the morning) and sitting on the master deck with a great cup of coffee while the day begins. The car was a must! The instructions are so inclusive that you know exactly how to handle all situations that might arise which were few (power outage, propane tank change---both of which were handled promptly by Eddie or Tish.) All of then staff were outstanding and great at their jobs. The beauty of the home and surroundings and the peaceful pace provided the perfect vacation we were looking for.

An Exclusive Island Haven of Beauty and Comfort: the Perfect Vacation Destination!

The on-line pictures of L'Alize accurately portray the layout, furnishings, and amenities of this house. What the pictures cannot express is L'Alize's peaceful spirit, cohesive artistry, and natural wonders that encompass one's senses upon entering this space. Pictures and words are completely inadequate in comparison with the satisfaction of being here and experiencing this lovely home (it is much more a home than a house) and its Roatan environment. My husband Patrick and I spent our honeymoon at L'Alize from June 28 - July 5, 2014, and every aspect was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff of L'Alize is tremendous. Orsy provided safe, efficient transportation from the airport, to the store, and to L'Alize. It is most convenient to get any groceries prior to arriving at L'Alize; when you walk through the front door, soaking in the beauty and calm of this haven will be the only thing you want to do! Olga and Eddi are very hospitable, and our bags were brought in and groceries put away in a moment's time. Olga offered to cook for us (a great convenient option to have a week off from cooking!). Patrick and I both enjoy cooking, so we took advantage of Roatan's supply of fresh produce and concocted various dishes in both the well-stocked kitchen and outdoor charcoal grill. It is a huge benefit that L'Alize's water is drinkable, a rare feature in this area. The pool was often our place to relax in the sun or coool off in the water, and Eddi kept this in immaculate condition, which was a sizeable task with the windy weather. The wind made it difficult to snorkel at L'Alize's lovely keyhole beach, but we saw a wide variety of sea life, which showed this is typically an excellent place for snorkeling. Also, calm water is only a short drive away at West Bay, which offers a plethora of sea life not far from shore. L'Alize has snorkeling equipment available upon request, which is convenient (especially when you can snorkel in the keyhole!) and helpful in providing flexibility for the guests and avoiding costly resort rentals. While L'Alize provides household essentials like a well-stocked hotel or island vacation house, the atmosphere would be very difficult to find elsewhere. Sip the rich roast of Honduran coffee as the morning sun shimmers over the keyhole waves. Stare at an endless canvas of stars with the cooling alize (tradewinds) flowing over the master balcony through the night. This place is wonderful, and we hope L'Alize welcomes guests for many years to come!

    Amazing place!!

We spent 10 days at L'Alize and had an amazing time. The views from the house were beautiful and nothing beats waking up to a sunrise over the ocean, enjoying the sounds of the waves while. Half way in between west end and west bay made the place great for the short trips out to explore the local area. And it was great having wifi for us to keep up to date with the outside world. Snorkeling was fantastic, especially the fish around the ship wreck in our own private beach. The second keyhole beach was very secluded and best accessible via the kayak to avoid the Mosquitos. I highly recommend staying here but be sure to bring lots of mosquito spray (needed for wherever you are on the island) and river shoes if you plan on using the rope swing :) Thank you Rosanne - we had a fantastic honeymoon and 40th birthday celebration (thanks to Olga cooking for my family).

    Christmas/New Year 2014/15

We so enjoyed our stay at Kalze Roatan - such a beautiful home, well equipped and lots of room for our large family. Thank you to Tish for greeting us on arrival and giving us information about the island. Juan Carlos was also very helpful, someone to call to get you to places like Little French Cay. Edie, Olga, Onelis & Naomi made us feel very comfortable, cooking fabulous meals, doing housekeeping and on call whenever we needed them. Lalize Is ideally located between West Bay & West End, the two happening beaches of Roatan where you can snorkel, scuba, parasail, shop, eat and just relax. The steepness of the driveway was mentioned in other reviews but it can be used as an opportunity for daily exercise - "kill the hill" and also yoga is available in West End. We go home with so many great memories from our two week stay. Returning to Lalizeroatan is certainly on all our minds.

    L'Alize is a great escape!

We stayed at L'Alize during the first week of January and had a wonderful time. We loved the house and everything was as expected based on the photos. It was the perfect layout for our family - we could house the 20 somethings together on the 1st floor and the older adults had their own spaces on the 3 floor and the cottage. The house is in a great location atop a breezy hill with wonderful cross winds. It kept everything cool and the bugs at bay when sitting out on the balconies but you definitely need bug spray to explore the grounds and the keyholes. We were very fortunate to have wonderful weather during rainy season but without fail it rained every night after dark which lulled us to sleep. If it was too windy the outdoor furniture blows around. The keyhole beach is pretty and well maintained but when we were there the waves were too rough for us to snorkel or use kayaks but we did ride the waves a bit but shoes in the water are a must. Edi / Olga also took great care of us. They were always around but very unobtrusive and tended to issues fast.. We had Olga and her lovely children cook for us. She made us an amazing breakfast of beignets, lemon cake and fruit and than for dinner - she made yummy fried chicken, plantains, rice & beans and salad. This cost is very reasonable and is taken out of your deposit at the end. We were close to West End and West Bay and took advantage of these areas to explore and we made a trip to Little French Key (Thanks Tish for the recommendation!) which was the highlight of our trip. I would highly recommend this rental on Roatan. Its fabulous, impeccably maintained and well equipped. It has everything you ever would need although we tried to stay away from wifi and electronic devices - we did use the Apple TV at night to gather for movies. They even provided phones for us to take with us programmed with all of their numbers if we needed them while out on day trips. Which was nice to have. Thanks for an experience our family will never forget! The Addison Family (From freezing Columbus, Ohio)

    Great Group Vacation

I just got back from spending a week at L'alize in Roatan and had an amazing time! We were a group of friends in our 30's that live throughout the US and met in Roatan for our annual vacation together. The house was well kept and as advertised in the photos. We elected to have Olga cook her famous meals, and that was one of the best decisions we made for this trip. Coming home to a nice warm meal was great after a day of scuba diving and beach going. The keyhole beach was not very swim friendly due to the waves this time of year but definitely great to hang out and lounge around. The house is about 5-10 min car ride to West Bay and about 20 minutes from West End making the location very desirable. All in all a great vacation, I hope to return soon with my family as the home would be great for a family getaway. Special thanks to the property manager Tish; Olga & Eddie who look after the property.

    Our Third Family Vacation

This was our third family vacation and it was amazing. The house is nestled in a beautiful tropical setting with stunning views of the Honduran coast and the ocean. It was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for our week long stay. The staff was so helpful and if we needed anything at all, they took care of us in short order. Two of our kids are certified divers and did 5 different dives including the shark dive and a night dive. The snorkeling was also excellent with lots to see. There is a wreck just outside the keyhole where lots of fish congregate. We went to Banana Beach three times but you should avoid it on Wednesdays and Thursdays as the cruise ships come in and it is very crowded. If you wait until later in the afternoon those folks clear out and it is much more peaceful. We enjoyed the pool or used the keyhole on those days. We found some little Mom and Pop places to eat and had some amazing local food. Ask Tish for recommendations if this is what you enjoy. We also had Olga fix three meals during our stay which was such a treat after a day at the beach. Four of us also did the Dolphin swim at Anthony Key Resort. This was incredible and well worth the money. It was a life-long dream of mine to swim with dolphins and I wasn't disappointed. We rented a car and most of the things we wanted to do were just a short drive away. There are lots of taxis around so that might be an option for some. There were three levels to the house with lots of stairs and open balconies. We did have our 2 year old grand daughter with us and we had to keep a sharp eye on her so this probably isn't the best property for little ones. Still, we all did fine.

Private and Quiet retreat nestled in the trees!

1st time to Roatan. The pics you see on the VRBO site are spot on! Spacious, nestled into the side of a hill surrounded by trees, not very far from the keyhole beach. Very large decks and walkways but no guardrails so this is NOT a house for young children or toddlers. We appreciated the pickup at the airport and that we were able to stop at the grocery store on the way to the house to load up on food and the all-important beer and cocktail makings! We opted to have Olga cook for us during the week as we just didn't want to hassle with it at all. We discussed menu options with Olga on the first day. Overall, we were not as impressed with the cooking as others who have used her services. Too much white rice and beans and some meat that was quite grisly (with that said, we did request her to switch to brown rice and mixed greens for the salad, which she accommodated). Olga did the shopping for the meals and we were surprised that about 85% of the purchases were from the grocery store versus local sources. Since she did the shopping, we had to pay for her transportation for these trips so we probably spent more money on groceries than if we just bought the items and had her cook the meals. The kayaks that are available are great and it was so much fun to get in the water in the keyhole and go out. Also, we found the snorkeling right off the keyhole was better than the catamaran day trip that we took! Also, when you go out the keyhole and go west, you will find the rope swing on the shoreline the next keyhole down. It was quite fun! Electricity is $.50 per kilowatt hour! We had 7 people and used the AC sparingly and it cost $193. As noted, I gave L'Alize five stars, which it is overall although I do want to mention a few annoyances that, while they didn't create major issues, were still annoyances that we felt should not have been present given the "Award Winning, Luxury Home" status: Safe: We were told the safes were working and when we arrived they were not and never were during our stay. Van:very old, two bald tires, had a blowout one day, rough running. Very unsafe. Paper towels, trash bags, TP: while we knew only one roll of paper towels was included, we found out later that we needed to supply our our trash bags and TP (really?, in a luxury rental?) Phones: nice to have 2 cell phones provided but we had difficulty getting through to Tish. Test them with Tish present. Overall, a really, really nice property and we would stay here again. A great time!

Great house in a great location

We had two families (4 adults and 5 kids) stay at L'Alize for 10 days and it was a great all-around experience. There was plenty of room, the views of the ocean were better than the pictures, and the trade winds kept things cooler day and night. It was in the upper 80's the entire time we were there and we did not turn on the air conditioning once. Location is also great. Being on the south side of the island, you get more wind and a little more surf, but the privacy is great. Feels like you have the whole place to yourself. Bonus is that you are a 2-minute car ride to West Bay and less than 10-minutes to West End so you have full access to all the shopping, beaches and restaurants you could want. South Shore ziplining is also less than a 2-minute drive. Cannot say enough about Olga's cooking. Truly amazing! We used her for breakfast every morning, a couple lunches and several dinners. It was very challenging to decide between having her cook a great dinner or to go out to one of the many great restaurants. It was the biggest problem of the entire vacation! Great snorkeling in West Bay, awesome dives with Island Divers in West End and the white sand beaches were top notch. Roatan is definitely on our short-list to return to in the future.

    Amazing Stay

A group of friends & I recently stayed at this beautiful property & could not have asked for anything more. Everyone on the staff is courteous & prompt, the house looks exactly as it does in the photos, and the owner's response time is amazing. Everything that we needed was immediately taken care of. Do yourself a favor and try Olga's cooking at least once- we had her prepare 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners, and both were very delicious! All the rooms are clean and spacious, the towels & linens were very soft, and the views from the balconies are gorgeous. There are a lot of steps, so prepare to get a workout- but we actually enjoyed that! It kept us in shape on our lazy vacation lol. The house came with 2 cell phones, which came in handy for calling different places around the island. We especially enjoyed snorkeling around the shipwreck in our private keyhole beach and Gumbalimba Park's zip-lining entrance is literally across the main street. West Bay really is 5 mins away & is a beautiful beach. Definitely eat at the Vintage Pearl if you can, the food is really amazing. Also, Little French Key is not to be missed. Overall, we all had an amazing time. You definitely will not be disappointed with this property. Great location, great house, great staff- what more could you ask for?!?

    Beautiful property, wonderful staff

Our dive week on the island of Roatan began when we were met by Eddie, jack of all trades, sent to pick the eight of us up from the airport. Three minutes out of the airport and we began to see the value in having a local doing the driving. Eddie got us safely to Lalize and the view was captivating from the start. At the home we were met by Trish who gave us a thorough walk thru of the beautiful three level home. Clean, comfortable, and well appointed with tile and hardwood through out. Enormous decks surround the house on all three levels and the views of both ocean and forest spectacular. Snorkel gear, kayaks, and even a pair of local pay as you go cell phones with minutes already applied were made available to us. The owners have gone to great lengths to anticipate and provide for the needs of the guests and their efforts were greatly appreciated . Soon after our arrival we were off to our dive shop of choice , Reef Gliders, to check in and deposit our gear for a week of diving. On our return home we were greeted by the wonderful aroma of Olga's Island Chicken Curry! It was wonderful as was each meal she prepared for us through the week. With very little input we left the dining selections to Olga and without fail she delivered tasty and more than ample sized meals. Hiring Olga was one of our best decisions on this stay. As a suggestion, making simple suggestions to Olga about your preferences for things such as salad dressing choices, seafood or not, and requests for a protein such as eggs and bacon to accompany her wonderful breakfast beignets allow her to zero in on what you will enjoy most. Her cooking and light house work added so much to the relaxation of this trip I can not recommend taking advantage of this perk enough. I honestly believe that we saved twice what we spent and enjoyed our stay so much more because of Olga and her beautiful family who all pitched in. In the end it's like this, the property is beautiful and housed all eight of us in comfort and that should be enough, but there's more. What made this a truly incredible stay was the attention to detail, the availability of things such as the van, the cell phones and local information and contacts. Most of all, the staff , Tish, Olga and Eddie, and their wonderful family. Do not overlook this gem. We will return again

    Exotic and Welcoming

How can a place be at once stunningly exotic and yet feel as secure and welcoming as home? L’Alize almost magically manages precisely this. Nestled alongside a massive hill, constantly refreshed with the strong tradewind breeze for which it is named, tropical flowers and coconuts at every turn, a pristine private beach… we loved every minute we were blessed to spend in this beautiful enclave. Our extended family of eight, ranging in age from 8 to 83 years old, spent a week in L’Alize. I was a bit apprehensive about both ends of the age spectrum being able to remain safe (the former) and get around (the latter). My worries were quickly dispelled as we all settled into this absolutely lovely paradise. Yes, there are stairs, but they are manageable. The heat was my other concern, but this, too, was largely groundless. Thanks to the amazing breeze, we were very comfortable and never used the air conditioning. The open design of the house with multitudes of balconies invites one to linger in blissful gazing across the landscape and sea. Inside, the tile floors, granite counters, comfortable furniture, lovely linens and tasteful artwork all merge to render the house an ideal tropical home. Peace pervades as surely as the salt air. Olga’s meals were wonderful (my favorite was the beignet and fresh pineapple breakfast, but definitely enjoy the coconut and panko fish). The large Toyota SUV managed to carry all of us and our luggage and Eddie negotiated the crazy traffic with apparent ease. Although many others have commented upon the private keyhole beach, I cannot complete this review without adding my own rapturous remembrance. The short walk there, which our 83-year-old negotiated with very little trouble, is itself beautiful. The beach is breath-taking with iron-shore (coral) sides, interesting shell and coral treasures washed up and significant wave action. Swim shoes recommended, but so worth the interface with the forces of pure wind, water and wildlife. L’Alize was the perfect home base for an unforgettable week in paradise.

    Best Vacation Ever

First, Roatan is one of the best places on Earth. It is mostly unspoiled rainforest with the best diving in the world. Regardless of where you stay, I would highly recommend a vacation there. If you decide to make the trip, I highly recommend this property. Roseanne, the owner, was a delight to work with leading up to our vacation, during the vacation, and afterward. We had a few little minor miscommunications (not her fault!) which were easily rectified via email on day one. I cannot speak highly enough of Roseanne and how easy to work with she is. We were there with 8 adults and 6 teenagers (4 families) for a little mini family reunion and it was the perfect place for us! With regards to the property, there are a few things to be aware of. The trade winds on that side of the island can be intense. Frankly, it makes the heat/humidity bearable. However, it can also make the little beaches unusable, especially if you have smaller kids. Our kids are all teens. They enjoyed it, but it was very rough and they got tossed around a little. In the end, it didn't matter one single bit. We ended up spending more time at West End and West Bay, so we really weren't around much during the day. This would not prevent me from renting again as the rest of our experience was so outstanding. The guest house is pretty darn hot and doesn't get a lot of air movement because of its position behind the home. Roseanne tells me they are putting in new windows and A/C, so this will not be an issue. The upsides to the property are that it is spacious with lots of bathrooms and an awesome kitchen/great room. The decks and patio face the sea with an awesome view and a breeze that totally negates the tropical heat/humidity. With the doors and windows open, the breeze runs through the house and allowed us to sleep most nights without the A/C on. Now for the best part of the house; Edier and Olga. The onsite caretakers ARE AWESOME! Olga prepared our breakfasts and dinners every night. The fee for this, plus the tip and cost of groceries, worked out to less than $10 per person per day. SERIOUSLY? How can you beat that? On top of making it an actual vacation by not having to cook, it was way cheaper than eating those meals out. As for Edi, the man was like the butler in the movie, Mr. Deeds. Every time we turned around looking to see if he was there to pick us up, he was there. He was awesome. Having Edi drive us all over the island in the 15 passenger Toyota mini-bus was worth

    Loveliest setting anyone can imagine

Rosanne's exquisite home could be a dump and the view/setting/landscape would still surpass any setting imaginable. The home was lovely, though, and Tish, Rosanne and Eddie tried to meet any need that we had while on the island. We visited much of the islands' offerings but found it so relaxing just to stay at L'Alize. Any group/family would be fortunate to spend a week in this remarkable home and setting.

    Incredible Home in Paradise

I cannot say enough about the amazing house and the surrounding beauty of L'Alize. The beautiful, three-story house seems carved into the hillside, providing you with more incredible views than you could want. There is easy, fast access to amazing snorkeling, and Roseanne (the owner) is easily available by phone to ask any questions you may have, and Eddie (who stays at a house on site) is available to drive wherever you may need. We opted to have a meal provided daily by the cook on site, Kaylee. She prepared delicious traditional Honduran food for us, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The house itself is well-furnished and beautifully decorated, with an incredible kitchen. Leaving the doors and shutters open allows for incredible breezes to flow through the houses, and we never had any issues with bugs at all. This house is luxurious, comfortably sleeps 12, has beautiful views surrounding it and quick access to a grocery, restaurants, and incredible attractions. The hardest part was leaving!

    Beautiful island property!

Extremely comfortable and cozy island experience; Property is fully equipped in every room & nice bathrooms. POOL: perfect location on patio for running to kitchen for drink/snack refills, great for wading and evening conversation, deep enough for adults to stand in deep end, shallow section for nonswimmers, nice cushioned lounge chairs.and nice light breeze during the day. PRIVATE BEACH COVE: picturesque, lots of fun with canoe and snorkeling , wear water shoes, lounging chairs were brought over for us. Careful, as we did not escape sand fly bites, even with lots of repellent. TEMPERATURE inside the house, was perfect and adjustable except for one bedroom. Kitchen had everything you'll need if you plan on cooking. Optional cook, Kaylin was fairly new but made great pancakes, scones and banana muffins. We cooked a few dinners ourselves and went out for the rest. Ordering for delivery was available but we did not use this option. Note: Suggest you have driver stop at Eldon's Supermarket after your airport arrival to purchase food prep items. If not then, purchase before the day you need them; stores are 15-20 minutes away. Sending for items takes awhile for delivery. (Unless you drive to the store yourself.) We are frequent travelers and have rented very nice homes in the past (including in Roatan). This was one of the most enjoyable vacations yet. Thanks for easy rental process and great service during our stay. Note: We were 17- 60 years old. The main deck off of the kitchen and living room (where we ate breakfast and played games in the evening) would have been a safety issue (no railings) if we had children with us.

L'Alize 2016: Everything we'd hoped it would be!

We spent a week at L'Alize in June, celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with our children and grandchildren. It was a large group, thirteen in all, ranging in age from 9 to 73, yet it met all of our needs. It was comfortable, spacious and beautiful. L'Alize is certainly unique in our experience. The owner, Rosanne, was helpful well before the trip, discussing where people might stay, meals and pre-arrival grocery shopping. At her suggestion, we engaged her housekeeper/cook to shop for us and to make breakfasts, some lunches and two dinners. That was quite convenient and a good recommendation. Similarly we engaged her 12-person van and her handyman/driver to run errands and to drive us to and from meals out, to beaches and shopping. He was reliable, punctual and personable. Driving is difficult on Roatan's hilly, curvy roads. I would recommend one and all to retain him. The price for the van and his services is quite reasonable, and your life will be much simpler. L'Alize is lovely and elegant-yet comfortable for our teen-agers to flop around. It's three floors, built into a hill, overlooking a short, beautiful valley which ends in a beautiful little "keyhole" beach. One of the most popular parts of the property was a delightful small pool on the lowest level, where all of us spent lots of time, both day and night. There are gorgeous views down the valley to the Caribbean. Everyone felt the view from the 2nd floor living room was spectacular (and it was) until our daughter visited our 3rd floor master bedroom and found the view even more breathtaking! The temperatures were typically around 90 degrees F, but constant breezes off the Caribbean kept the place quite comfortable. L'Alize is a very vertical property. It is not the place for anyone with difficulty handling stairs. You must climb three flights of stairs to enter the house; the house is three stories, and the steps from the pool into the valley are steep. With that single concern, we would enthusiastically recommend L'Alize to any group ready for fun and adventure!

    Wonderful home with amazing staff!

Perfect home for our group! The home isn't huge, but it is amply sized for a large party. Our group was 10 total, and consisted of myself and my two sisters, two of us with husbands and children. The house was well set-up for our group as it gave us good separation of space, yet we all felt together and connected. One thing I didn't really understand before we got there was that the second floor is really the main level. You enter on that level, and the common areas where we spent most of our time were on that level (kitchen, dining room, living room, large patio) The third floor was a VERY large master bedroom with a private deck and very large bathroom, with another smaller room with 2 twin beds and another bathroom. My family and I took that level, as the stairs up to that floor were too steep for my sister. That's one thing to know, lots and lots of stairs, no matter which level you stay on. The other bedrooms and the den with sleeper sofa are all down on the first floor. The house was furnished with everything you needed to be comfortable. You feel so secluded, yet you are literally a three minute drive to West Bay. We didn't actually end up exploring the property and the keyhole beach as much as we had intended, but mainly used the home as a wonderful place to relax and de-stress. The thing that really sets this home apart is the service. Both Eddie and Dulce were fantastic!! Eddie was always just a phone call away when we needed to go somewhere. He showed up promptly when called, always with a smile. I highly suggest using Eddie to get around while on-island. The roads aren't well labeled, and the obstacle course of potholes on the roads makes them hazardous to the unfamiliar driver. Worth every penny to have Eddie! I would have liked to adopt Dulce to bring home with me. She as full of smiles and was a great cook. We left her to decide what to serve us, always with local-style foods. Again, worth every penny!! When you are there, you are family and treated with lots of warmth and welcome. We had a medical emergency in the early hours of the morning, and every one of them bent over backwards to help us get it handled, and to feel comfortable with the outcome. They saved our trip with their prompt attention and loving service. Would absolutely stay again!!

Doesn't Get More Beautiful Than This!

As Iie in bed this morning watching the sun rise with the doors windows thrown open (never turned the AC on), I miss L'Alze already! NO BUGS either! Eight of us shared this amazing, well furnished house for a short vacation (5 days). We sailed & snorkeled with Gemini Sailing yesterday all around the island and enjoyed a few drinks at Sundowner in West End and enjoyed more water views. All balconies on L'Alize enjoy a wonderful breeze with chairs for everyone....a short walk to the beach for snorkeling, swimming or kayaking! Kayaks are easy to navigate for 2 or 3. We toured the Iron Shore outside of the keyhole. The submerged boat at the mouth of the keyhole had plenty of brightly colored fish for even the most inexperienced of snorkelers. Dulce prepped fabulous meals (and dessert) and Eldier was more than on time for all of our pick ups. Dinner out one night at the Iron Shore Restaurant at the Grand Roatan Resort. With reservations, we were treated to a table for 8 in the sand, with fresh flowers and nicely decorated table, immediate to the waters edge (West Bay Beach). We will definitely come back without hesitation! LOVE IT! (Check L'Alize's Facebook page - uploading LOTS of pics)

    L'Alize and Roatan are amazing

We were four couples staying at L'Alize for two weeks. We cannot say enough great things about Roatan, the house, Dulce and Eddy. First Roatan is beautiful with the rain forests, beaches, snorkeling, weather, and especially the people. It is so lush with so much to admire. L'Alize was very spacious with four bedrooms - two on pool level and two on upper floor. The views from the upper floors were amazing. The main kitchen was very well equipped for all styles of cooking and baking. Dulce was a real gem to have to do light cleaning or cook or bake for you. We were fairly tidy people and we choose to utilize her services baking for us. Over the two weeks she made us beighnets, honduran breakfast, pizza, muffins - many times, lemon squares and our supper on arrival. Everything was delicious. We booked the van and Eddy to drive us - so worth every penny. So nice to not have to think about were to go, how to get there and were to park.Eddy looked after everything. We decided to take a tour of the island and instead of booking a tour group we asked Eddy and Dulce if they would give us a tour of their beautiful island. What a great day !!!! We saw so many amazing things and had great times and laughs with Dulce and Eddy. The two keyhole beaches are great - we didn't find the second one until the end of our trip or we would have spent a lot of time there. Bring blow up floating chairs - great for pool and the keyhole beaches. West Bay beach is a short 5 minute ride away - Eddy will drop you off and pick you up when you call him from the provided cell phones. Eddy and Dulce will also shop for you while you enjoy the sun. They were a real bonus to have. Don't forget to bring the bug spray and use it every morning - the no see ums get their name for a reason - you don't notice them until after they have bitten. But with the bug spray and breezes they were fine. The ones that react reacted before they knew they had been bitten. The glass bottom boat excursion at the round a bout at West end was great - we negotiated a price and were on the boat within minutes. Saw lots of great sea life. What a great experience for all of us but especially the ones that don't snorkel. We ate at the Argentinean Grill at West End which was awesome, we got chairs in front of Bananarama which were free if you ate or drank there or $10 if you didn't. The pictures do not do this place justice. It is amazing and we miss Roatan, Dulce and Eddy already. Can't wait to return.

The best vacation we've been on

Our group of 8 had the privilege of staying at L'Alize for the last week for our friend’s 50th birthday. We knew our stay would be amazing the minute we walked into the house and saw the views from the balcony. The home sits between lush trees and has an amazing ocean view. The home was very spacious four our party of 8, with four bedrooms - two on pool level and two on upper floor. The main floor included the kitchen which was very well equipped and a balcony that we used often to watch the stars at night or enjoy the daily breezes. We rented the van and paid the additional fee to have Eddie drive us. I would highly recommend doing this as the roads in Roatan are filled with many holes and could be difficult to navigate as a visitor. Eddie was so accommodating and always arrived early with a smile on his face. It was also very easy to reach him with the loaner cell phones that were provided to us. We had the privilege of having Dulce cook for us several times while we visited. Her cooking was by far the best food we ate while in Roatan (I didn’t love the restaurants we ate at). She was so sweet and accommodating. Everything was delicious. She was involved in an auto accident the day we left. We would love to hear if she is doing alright. We enjoyed many activities during our stay. We ziplined, took a mangrove boat tour, hung out at several local bars but “Hole in the Wall” with bartender Captain Ed (who makes a good strong drink) was our favorite. Our favorite activity was taking a private boat trip to Cayos Cochinos. Our tour guide Osman who is located at the Bananarama Roatan Activities booth in West Bay was absolutely amazing. I highly suggest doing a tour this way even with the cost being $150 per person. Drinks, beer, vodka, rum, sodas, juices, water, lunch (coconut rice and beans, plantain chips and local fresh fish) snacks (fruit platter, chips and salsa) were all included. We visited 3 of the 15 islands, were able to snorkel and get to meet the Garifuna community. We truly felt like celebrities with Osman taking care of us. Be aware that the boat ride is about 1 hour. If you get sea sickness (like me), you will want to bring Dramamine. The only thing I recommend bringing with you is bug spray (that contains deet). We didn’t have an issue with bugs at L’Alize however anywhere we visited had bugs and we were bitten. Finally, the owner Rosanne was VERY easy to work with and was fast at communicating with me. She answe

    Fantastic house and Amazing staff!

Eight of us stayed at L'Alize last week for our spring break. We had a wonderful week on the beach and couldn't be happier with L'Alize. Dolce was a real gem and prepared delicious food for us as well as just being a delight to brush up on our Spanish with! Eddie was very reliable and easy to be with as well. Our internet worked well all week and we didn't even need to turn on the air conditioning with the pleasant cool breezes. The neighboring roosters woke us every morning, which we enjoyed! The winds were such that we were not able to snorkel at the key hole beach, but we did enjoy the beach itself! We dove with West Bay Divers, which was located very close to the house, and were treated very well there and had exceptional dives with exceptional dive masters. We highly recommend both L'Alize and West Bay Divers.

    Absolutely Stunning

We had the most wonderful stay in Honduras. LAlize is set high in the landscape with breathtaking views of the ocean and the greenery native to Honduras. From the moment I contacted the owner to secure LAlize for my husbands surprise vacation to the time we arrived we were impressed by the home as well as the wonderful staff that welcomed us. Everyone was warm and inviting and extremely helpful. The home has its own private keyhole where we enjoyed amazing snorkeling as well as kayaking and had access to the many beautiful beaches on the island. Special thanks to Rosanne for helping us plan one of the best vacations we have had! We plan to return to LAlize on a future vacation!

  • Matt   O.

    Beautiful, private, and relaxing!

Ivan's food is fantastic, and he is so very kind. Eddy was always ready to help drive us to any excursions. Unfortunately, it was too windy during our stay to fully utilize the keyhole beach, but nonetheless, we were minutes from West Bay, so it mattered little. Our children ages 5-11 all enjoyed themselves thouroughly with snorkeling, zip-lining, dolphins, sloths, fishing, SUP boarding and are already asking when we can return. This place is wonderful and affords you the ability to access great places on the island but allows you to retreat to privacy after a day in the sun! Rosanne was fantastic to deal with and will answer any and all questions promptly and with a genuine hope that you enjoy your time at L'Alize! Thank you, thank you!
