Ferme du Ciel - Half-Board for 18 persons
DescriptionSki in winter, hike in summer. and sauna away weary muscles away in time for aperitifs by the fire or Savoie specialities on the terraceYou are high above the valley and pretty Samoëns. This huge old chalet-style farmhouse as been expertly renovated to reveal soaring beams, a great woody open-plan living space, a shiny state-of-the-art kitchen, big lofty bedrooms and a fire to warm you on autumn nights. Summer days demand you eat on the lovely balcony-terrace. It's not compulsory to bring a crowd... but should you wish to, the chalet sleeps 18 (four rooms have sofabeds for children) and a further four in a cute little apartment with its very own patio. The whole place oozes comfort and style in patterned rugs, stripy curtains and heated floors. There's a jacuzzi on one of the terraces, a sauna downstairs and a swimming pool in the garden for summer stays (in the winter this becomes a catered ski chalet). Down in town: restaurants, shops and all you need. Beyond: lakes, mountains, fresh air and cowbells. Your hosts (and two lovely labs) live on site should you fancy a B&B (or a fully catered) option. If you're a band of independent mountain bikers, say, or a smaller family party, you take all or part of the chalet, and self-cater.

“Gold-standard service levels”
We stayed with Su and Andy for a long weekend - from the pick-up to the journey back to Geneva we felt they could not do enough for us - even to the extent of driving around the mountain to pick us up after one side of the resort was shut due to high winds. The chalet itself is stunning and the rooms are large for a ski hotel. One of us has some challenging dietary requirements and these were dealt with efficiently (a call before we went out helped with this) and with no fuss. The chalet is quite a long way out of town - so if you want to go out this may be a problem - but for us it was perfect. The ski area is great for a range of abilities and you can cover most of it in a long weekend. We'll definitely be back!
“60th Birthday Celebrations”
What a fantastic holiday once again. The weather was perfect, as was the accommodation and service. I was part of a large party there to celebrate and boy did we have fun. Su and Andy were the best hosts, no request was too much for them, and they went above and beyond to ensure we all had everything we needed. The accommodation is luxurious; amazing beds, great pool, first class food, and extremely conscientious staff. Every day there was a new adventure - Go Ape, parapenting, white water rafting, cycling, climbing - you name it, we did it! I shall definitely return again.
Had a fantastic week here with our friends, our hosts Andy and Su did us proud plenty of good food, wine and beer excellently prepared and cooked by Kate, The chalet was amazing and set in a beautiful location, we stayed here in June and the weather was great. Plenty to do in the local region. Back at base it was party time every night and boy did we party, a great time had by all. Nothing was to much trouble for Andy and Su.
I'm really bad at writing reviews and this one is 4 months late, I am reminded as we have just arrived back in samoens,.... We stayed for 3 nights in April. Andy and Sue were fantastic hosts and their staff are second to none.. Chalet is the 'best' you will ever stay in. If you want to ski this area... Stay here !!!!! Andrew and Kate plews
I don't often write reviews but this Chalet really deserves to be mentioned. Staff were so helpful, room was clean and comfortable and the food was amazing - We will definitely be returning for another ski trip.
“Fabulous chalet with amazing hosts”
Beautiful chalet with amazing hosts. Nothing was too much for them so accomodating with everything. The only downside for us was the location in comparison to the slopes - we are used to ski to the door, so a new experience travelling 10 mins or so to the slopes.
Lovely chalet in a beautiful location. Su and Andy are great hosts, and together with Dan and Bailey made our stay really special. Rooms spacious and wonderful bathrooms, loved soaking in a candlelit bath. Everything was taken care of, transfers from Geneva, ski hire at the chalet, recommendations for ski lessons and table booked a local restaurant for the chalet night off. Some distance from the main village and slopes but well organised and flexible service for pick-ups and drop-offs actually made this easy.
“Our third visit... hope there's more!!”
This was our third stay at the beautiful Feme du Ciel. Although a distance from the slopes and the lovely village of Samoens, this is really not a problem with the transport provided. Andy and Su as always ensured all our needs were met along with Dan and Bailey who provided great hosting and excellent food. The holiday was thoroughly relaxing and we had a great start to the New Year. Hope to be back again soon. One more thing to mention... the shortbread given to us on departure was divine!!.
Another wonderful trip to this little piece of heaven. Everything about Ferme du Ciel is perfect from the building, surrounding scenery, ambiance and the attention to detail. Su and Andy along with Bailey and Dan simply cannot do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The standard of the food and presentation was excellent, served attentively by Dan.Andy is always happy to transport you down into Samoens, which remains a lovely French village retaining a traditional feel.( 5 minute journey). All in all Ferme du Ciel ticks every box leaving you relaxed and re-energized. Can't wait to go back!
“Fabulous short break”
We had a wonderful stay at this chalet. It is of an excellent standard with high quality facilities. The staff of Dan and Bailey along with owners Andy and Su made us feel very welcome and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we wanted. The views from the chalet are fabulous and the cooking was first class. As others have said it is out of the village so perfect for those who do not depend on the bars for their night life. The four double rooms are basically the same except those at the front enjoy the view of the valley. It is perfect for a short break - we stayed 5 nights and could have skied on the afternoon of our arrival if we had wanted. The skiing was great with easy access to Flaine for more runs, without having to stay in its concrete buildings. Samoens, Morrilon and Les Carroz offer lots of enjoyable runs and their are plenty of nice mountain restaurants.
