“a warm and hospitable family chateau where you can enjoy fabulous locally sourced food prepared by creative cooks in the”

I reached the Chateau by train from Paris in 1 1/2 hours plus a taxi ride. For a history buff with a discrimating palate, this is heaven. I also found the spaciousness of the grounds, the lovely classical music on the airwaves in the chateau truly relaxing. This is a fabulous area near the Loire in Anjou. They use only organic food, either home or locally grown. There are bikes to use on the great bike routes available nearby. Anjou is peppered with chateaux, abbeys, vineyards and of course the beautiful Loire.

“Gorgeous chateau and grounds with delights for all the senses”

My husband and I LOVED the Chateau de Chambiers. The Crouans made us feel welcome and so comfortable. Monsieur (Elie) grows amazing vegetables and Madame (Anne) makes such fresh, healthy, appetizing foods, ranging from modern, international, and natural dishes to classic French ones. Home-made bread, yogurt, preserves. Delicious! We really felt like guests at a luxurious country estate, but there was no pretension--just elegance, charm, comfort, and the pleasures of nature and Anjou hospitality. We intend to reserve early for next summer.

    “A little piece of heaven”

Me, my mom and my sister had the most amazing time in this amazing place. The owner, Elie, was one of the mosto touhgful and nice persons I've known through our trip through the Loire Valley, He welcomed us with a cup of coffee and hot chocolate, as a good friend who has been expecting us and gently asked if we wanted to have dinner (wich we declined since we had already eten). The chateau has all this classical atmosphere almost as you were in the XIX century, as for its furniture and amazing decoration. The garden is also very beautiful and well taken care. After a day driving I had a very relaxing tub bath and a very good night of sleep, in a big room with one single and one double bed. The next mornig, afetr breakfest (when we met his wife Anne, who was also very pleasent), he showed us around the property (it seems a wonderful place to host a wedding and has a cottage as the nuptial suite). Too bad we only stayed for one night, so I´m must definetly coming back with my husband, since it´s such a romantic place.

    “Cycling holiday”

My wife, brother and sister-in-law stayed here for two nights last year. The experience blew us away and I am embarrassed that it has taken so long to post this review. The rooms were just fantastic. Mihele and I stayed in the library that had been converted into a bedroom with en suite. But all the books ere still there!! We found a late 18th century book in French about the 3 voyages of Captain "Jacque" Cook!! Just fascinating. But the real piece de resistance was the way Anne and her family and staff looked after us. Anne had drinks with us each evening on our return and was delightful. Her charm and friendliness made the stay perfect. And the food (I am not a foody) was really good. We were also lucky to have other guests staying who were very good company.

    “Wonderful stay in fascinating Chateau”

My husband and I spent one night at Chateau de Chambiers at the beginning of September this year and have been intending to write what is our first ever Tripadvisor review since then. We could not have found a nicer, more charming welcome by Elie and Anne. They obviously love their home and wonderful, romantic garden. We felt looked after and that it was a privilege to visit such a unique and atmospheric place. Elie and Anne have filled the chateau with antiques and curiosities and created a very special atmosphere indeed, combining the feel of stepping back in time in a subtle unobtrusive way with modern comforts. When you wake up in the moring, pushing open the shutters through the ivy, its hard to know whether to look first at the inside of the bedroom or at the lovely view over the gardens. While we did not have time to try dinner we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and Elie was delighted to share his knowledge of local wine producers. His recommendations were really good and we added quite a few bottles to the groaning car. We hope to visit again, this time to enjoy dinner and maybe even go to the local opera in a neighbouring chateau - ask Elie and Anne about this. A lovely memorable place.

    “great chateau experience”

located in outskirts of loire valley this chateau is for people (couples) who prefer romantic getaway in 19 century France chateau style of living. what makes this chateau special is: Madame Anne de Chateuau - great host and she add general old chateua experience also welcome personal touch (service, dinner cooking, communication skills..). It is peaceful location with large gardens and privicy. If you like to rest from stress and feel part of past times you will not miss visiting cheatau de chambiers.

    “Anniversary Trip”

My wife and I spent 2 nights in the Caroline Room May 9-10, 2013. Anne was a gracious, friendly and excellent hostess for us. She welcomed us and made us feel at home. We had the 5 course evening meal one of the nights and the food was delicious and well prepared. Anne shared homemade wine with us before dinner and then coffee and biscuits after dinner in the living room. The bedroom was clean and the bed very comfortable. You definitely feel like you are in an historic Chateau on very nice estate grounds. Breakfasts were ample and the coffee was perfect.

    “Brilliant”

We stayed at Chateau Chambier to visit the Loire Valley and we're glad that we did. The hospitality was fantastic, the food was brilliant and the Chateau itself was wonderful. We stayed in the Camp du Drap D'Or which was wonderfully eclectic, but Anne gave us a tour of the other rooms and cottages and we can safely say there is something there that will suit any taste...all the rooms were beautiful and had their own style. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    “A place to stay relaxed”

Chateau Chambier is a lovely place to arrive and stay some days. As it is just between Angers and Saumur, its location is optimus to visit several different castels of the Loire valley. And Anne (and her husband) knows how to receive. We had a marvelous room, and a nice welcome with a good wine in front of the fire place.

    “Lovely country retreat”

Anne and Elie run a lovely chambre d'hotes at Chateau de Chambiers. We stayed in the room Bonne Maman, which was bright and cheerful, comfortable beds and bedding, large private bathroom with a separate private toilet. Views from window were lovely. Breakfast offered yogurt, fresh fruit, cheese, and baskets of pastry or bread. Afternoons were lovely in side courtyard with a glass of wine and listening to Elie cook to jazz music in the kitchen. We did not eat dinner there, but several others did. The house is old and filled with antiques. We were given a tour of the other rooms all with private bath and really whimsical fabrics and furniture. Lovely lake and park across the street for a long walk or jog. Easy access to highways or small town. If you want quiet, you will find it here. Just lovely.
