“The food is to die for.”
My husband and I went for lunch under the recommendation of a colleague. I ordered the linguine and meatballs, my husband had the linguine with Ox tail. My husband is Greek and I am Italian so we are spoit for good home style cooking, I have to say Rosa's cooking certainly deliverd the sensational flavours you only get at home. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the meatballs literally melted in my mouth. The Ox tail fell off the bone and I couldn't decide which dish I preferred, they were both so good. Our host Frank suggested a rose moscato which was perfect. We were made to feel welcome, without being imposed upon. It would be a lovely place to spend a romantic weekend away, but well worth the hours drive from Melbourne just for lunch.
“Shame about the rain...”
Shame it was raining as we couldn't enjoy the lovely looking gardens more. We did however have a excellent wine tasting and lunch hosted by the very charming Frank and his lovely wife Rosa. Great stories. Great wine and great pasta with meatballs in my case and chorizo in my wife's.
“Warm and welcoming, delicious food and wine, relaxing countryside”
Whats better than sitting next to a blazing fire with a glass of red watching rain fall onto the picturesque musk countryside? Frank and Rose at Barcaldine house never fail to offer a warm and welcoming experience. They offer outstanding service, great wine and food (the BEST tuna pasta) and friendly smiles. value for money is spot on, and we always feel at home at the beautiful Barcaldine grounds. Thanks a lot Frank and Rose, we will be back to visit very soon. Paul and Erin.
We stayed at Barcaldine on the recommendation of others and were not disappointed! The hospitality shown by both Frank and Rose was exceptional and the home cooked meals - amazing!! After an exhausting day, being able to have dinner at the cafe on the property was also a bonus. The wine tasting is a must, I have never been a wine drinker but after trying one of the best Muscato's ever, I have definitely changed my mind. We really hope to visit this magical place again in the very near future and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic getaway!
“Stay as friends of the hosts”
You are welcomed as friends into Frank & Rose's home. Great hosts, lovely accommodation kept scrupulously clean and close to Daylesford but far out enough to be rural. Set amongst vines, a sample bottle of those vines is placed in your room with some chocolates. Option to have a meal on site and taste some wines. Recommended if you don't mind a splurge for a special night away. Lovely cooked breakfast awaits you in the morning that sets you up for the day.
“Mr Gerard O'Brien”
Stayed in Barcaldine House for Eagles Concert. New management tried hard. Very friendly, however accommodation had some short comings. Issues like no shampoo in room, no milk for tea/coffee, no bath mat and running out of loo paper we're disappointing! Pluses - great breakfast, nice bed linen, nice venue.
