Peacefull welcome home in a beautifull landscape

Clean air, endless green landscape. The house is away from any main roads (Have to take a dirt road up to the house) nestled in the hills right next to a beauitufull lake. The home is beautifully decorated, and it is very spacious. There is a platform in the middle of the lake that is great for jumping into the water, and the boat also provides handy transport for those that can't swim their way there. Overall great experience, would definetely book again. Insipred me to one day buy a house upstate.

    Perfect escape from the city!

We drove up from Brooklyn to stay at Mary's beautiful home in Roscoe, NY after Apple Picking at a nearby orchard. Mary knew that we would be arriving after apple picking, and left us pie dough and pans to bake to our heart's content. Such a sweet gesture! We baked apple cakes and raspberry apple crumbles:) The house is beautiful, clean, great open space with an incredible master bedroom, jacuzzi, steam shower and balcony deck overlooking the beautiful lake. We made a bonfire outside at night under the stars and even took out the rowboat to the dock in the center of the lake and went swimming! We felt safe, relaxed and had all the privacy we needed, we never wanted to leave! We even saw a bald eagle and plenty of wildlife! We would absolutely love to have a return stay! Many Thanks again! Jacqueline

    The Perfect Getaway Lakehouse

Mary's house is overlooking a private beautiful lake and is surrounded by the tall Catskills trees, with their yellow leaves made the whole landscape very cinematic. The house itself is warm, cozy, perfectly sized for up to 10 people, spacious living room with a fireplace and literary every single detail taken care by the host. The kitchen was fully equipped and ready for some cooking. The master bedroom with the private jacuzzi and the balcony overlooking the lake was an extra perk we did not anticipate. Outside the house, a beautiful landscape which can be explored by hiking, biking, fishing even canoeing as the house provides a cute boat for 2. Nearby towns are Roscoe and Liberty with Wal Mart about 30 mins away outside Monticello. Closest apple picking farm, the Soons farm about 40mins away on the way back to the city. Only 2.5 hours away from Manhattan, you bet we are going back there! The perfect escape from the city!!

    Lovely Group Vacation

I wanted to take my family away to celebrate two birthdays and Mary's home was a perfect getaway. From NYC it was just over two and a half hours, about four from MA. Mary has put a lot of love, thought and attention into this house and it feels like home away from home. The views are incredible and the town is fun to walk around in for a couple hours. We brought our own groceries because we were told the markets are just okay. There is a wonderful natural food store downtown but if staying with a group for a long time, bringing in is the way to go. Mary has a stocked kitchen. We made a lovely fire in the pit outside as well as in the house when it was cold. There was plenty of firewood, a lovely, big grill, boats and tons of places to sit and read or congregate as a group. Their lake (shared with only two other properties, I believe) is just fantastic and beautiful. We saw may varieties of birds, butterflies and my dog just LOVED running around the lake. He even learned how to swim this weekend. We had an issue with the water heater, but Mary and her fix-it guy resolved it as quickly as possible. I would definitely recommend Mary's home for a quiet bonding trip with a group or family. The hill leading to the lake is a little steep, so make sure your older group members can manage.

Perfect place for a fishing/gaming/tubing getaway

We stayed at the house in July with a group of 8 for a Friday-Sunday trip. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep and plenty of outdoor and deck space to eat and relax. The house was clean and well-maintained. We spent all day Friday swimming and tubing at the private lake at the house. There was power in the gazebo by the lake and we were able to listen to music while we swam. There was a strip of lawn space down by the lake and dock where we played bocce ball and threw the frisbee. Those who did not want to make the swim (maybe 150 feet) to the dock used the kayak and rowboat to get out there that were provided. At night, we made a fire, played bag toss on the deck and grilled a great meal on the gas grill on the property. We had a perfectly clear sky and moonless night, so we were able to see the stars, milky way and even the International Space Station passing overhead. It was not too buggy, and once we lit the fire, there were no issues with mosquitos. On Saturday, we drove down to the river (the Beaverkill) and tubed. Sunday we also took ~30 minute drive out to the East Branch of the Delaware to kayak, canoe and fish. It was an excellent weekend and this is the perfect getaway for a group of friends or a large family looking for a relaxing place in the mountains with easy access to a private lake (good enough to swim in) and the hiking, fishing, tubing, kayaking that it is abundant in the area. We would definitely return. Mary responded to all my email questions within the same day. There is a dirt road to get to the house, so make sure your vehicle can handle a few bumps in the road.

    Great Weekend Getaway

We drove up from Brooklyn for a long weekend in Mary's home, staying Friday-Monday. There space was more than ample for 7 adults and one baby. We really enjoyed use of the kayak and rowboat to explore the lake, as well as the many floats to simply relax out on the water. Even though there are a few other houses on the lake, our group was the only one using it this particular weekend, which was nice. We brought most of our own food up with us and made a pit stop at the Walmart outside of town to pick up a few last minute items. We cooked most of our meals on the gas grill out front, which was great. During our stay we made a few small trips into town to check out the two local breweries- Trout Town and Catskill. The house and property were really lovely and we were all able to relax and enjoy the space. The downstairs deck was a great spot to hang out as a group, and the upstairs deck was perfect for stargazing and watching the Perseid Meteor showers. We also took advantage of the large fire pit out back for making s'mores. Our group especially like the use of archery set. We saw lots of chipmunks, hummingbirds, and beautiful butterflies. There were reports of bears in the area, but we did not encounter any! We had an excellent stay and would highly recommend this property. The proximity to NYC is great-less than three hours to peace, quiet, and starry skies. Mary and Orlando were very responsive and helpful during our stay.

This is one of the best places I have been . My family of 4 and a small dog stayed there for 4 nights and totally enjoyed the stay . The place is so clean and plenty of room for lots of people . The lake by house is fantastic and swimmable. The owner, Mary is so nice and reachable for any time for anything. I would definitely come back to this place again for longer time

Great weekend getaway from New York

Accommodations were clean and stocked with everything you might need. We were only 4 people (with two dogs), but this space could have easily had twice that comfortably. Mary was easily accessible with any questions we had. We barely left, it was so lovely staying right there, but seemed like there would have been plenty to do in the surrounding area.
